Aloo Gobhi Masala

A dry and spicy Indian side dish prepared by potato and cauliflower.

Aloo gobhi masala is quite popular all over India. Children love it eating with plain paratha. It is very easy and quick to prepare. With left over aloo gobhi masala, you can make stuffed parathas. It really tastes awesome.

  • 600 gm cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 3 big potatoes, cubed
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 1/2tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp amchoor powder (dry mango powder)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 green chilli (cut lengthwise)
  • bunch of coriander leaves
  • salt to taste

Steps

  1. In big pan, heat the oil. Then add cumin seeds and grated ginger and saute it.
  2. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, tomato puree and cook it for 3 miutes on high heat.
  3. Then put cauliflower florets & potatoes into it.
  4. Add coriander powder and amchur powder and mix well
  5. Pour water & cover the pan and let it cook on slow heat.
  6. After 10 minutes, saute it again, so that it does not get burned at the bottom. Let it cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Now turn off the gas and add garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serving Instructions

Serve aloo gobhi masala with plain parathas.
