This is  a very famous dish all around India. Though it's made in every household, the word Halwa has originally been an Arabic name.  The origin is Moghlai but it is very famous among all Indians. The main reason for this is that the recipe requires very less ingredients and yet it can satisfy your craving for sweets. Also you can do it quickly if some unexpected guests drop by.

Steps

  1. In a wok heat the clarified butter. When it's sufficiently hot add the lightly crushed cardamom pods.
  2. Sauté for a few seconds and then add the cashew nuts fry till light golden brown and add the semolina.
  3. Fry on a low to medium heat till light golden brown in color. This may take 10 minutes
  4. Add the sugar and mix well.
  5. Mix the milk and water in a bowl and gradually add the mixture to the semolina mixture stir in constantly so as to prevent any lumps.
  6. Keep on stirring till it thickens up. Once its fairly thick, turn off the heat and serve hot with cashew nut sprinkles.

Serving Instructions

This dessert is usually eaten after meals or is also served with hot puris.
