Dal Lucknowi is of Awadhi origin. Awadhi recipes were fit for a king. This recipe easy to make yet tastes delicious. All it requires is split pigeon pea and a handful of spices to make this quick and tasty lentil.
Dal Luckhnowi Ingredients
In a pressure cook add the soaked pigeon pea, turmeric powder, green chillies and salt. Add 1 cup of water and cook till you hear 4 whistles.
In a wok heat the oil
Add the dried red chillies, asafoetida and cumin seeds. sauté for 30 seconds.
Add the garlic and fry for another 30 seconds.
Add the cooked pea and milk.
Mix well and let it come to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
Sprinkle some fresh or dried coriander leaves and Serve hot.
