Karela Dal is a simple bengali cuisine.It is also called tetor dal in bengal because in this cuisine the main ingredient is Bitter gourd or Karela in hindi and it is bitter by taste, and bitter is called teto in bengal. Bitter Gourd is very much helpful for diabetic patient. Bitter gourd protects body from other non-communicable diseases.

Steps

  1. Take a wok add moong dal fry in low heat till golden brown.
  2. Now add bottle gourd and water and boil till the moong dal and the bottle gourd are soften.
  3. Now take another wok add oil, add red chilli, mustard seed and fenugreek seed.
  4. Add bitter gourd and fry till golden brown.Add grated ginger,sugar,salt to taste and turmeric powder and stir well.
  5. Now add the boiled moong dal and bottle gourd ,if required add some water and cover for 5 minutes
  6. At last add ghee and switch off the flame.

Serving Instructions

Serve it with hot plain white rice.
