Til Mattar is a Punjabi recipe which is quick and easy to make. It requires very easily available ingredients and goes well with paratha and chapatti. It’s a semi dry Subzi with dry fenugreek leaves to add to the flavor

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen peas
  • 1 tomato cut into 8 pieces
  • 2 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • to be ground to paste
  • 1 onion roughly chopped
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 flakes of garlic
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • salt to taste

Steps

  1. In a blender add the onion, sesame seeds, garlic, coriander powder, cumin seeds and red chilli powder . Blend it with a little water to make a smooth paste
  2. In a wok heat 2 tbsp oil.
  3. Add the ground paste and fry till oil separates . This will take 3-4 minutes on a medium heat.
  4. Add the dried fenugreek leaves, tomato, salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Cook for about a minute.
  5. Add the peas and a little water.
  6. Cook for about 5 minutes or till the peas are done.
  7. Serve hot.

Serving Instructions

Serve it with buttered paratha or chapati
