Shrikhand, though is originally a Maharashtra dessert, is very popular in Gujrat as well. This traditional delicacy is served with hot puris. This a variation of the traditional Shrikhand which has saffron. Various other variations can also me made like substituting mangoes with strawberries.

Steps

  1. To make hung curd, take a muslin cloth and pour the curd over it and tie up the cloth. Hang this cloth to drain all the liquid from the cloth. This will take a minimum of 3 hours.
  2. Pour the hung curd in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add powdered sugar and condensed milk and mix it well with a whisk. Ensure no lumps are left out. Also you can whip it up with a beater or a blender.
  4. Add the mango pulp and a pinch cardamom powder and whisk it again until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Transfer into a small bowl or individual ramekins. Cover it with cling film and freeze it for 4 hours or until set.
  6. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve chilled.

Serving Instructions

Traditionally, the Shrikhand is eaten with Puri.
